NDSU Extension Entomologist Mark Boetel expects peak sugarbeet root maggot fly activity this week. Boetel says granular applications should have been on last week, but the timing for liquid applications is in the next couple of days. “Even a couple of days after peak fly, depending on where you are located, it should do a very good job. Even if a moderate to small rainfall occurs afterward, that will soak some of that material in as well. There are still opportunities to do a good job on protecting fields from the from the much feared and respected sugarbeet root maggot.”
