North Dakota Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring has issued a Special Local Needs registration, enabling dry bean growers west of U.S. Highway 281 to use Syngenta’s Reflex herbicide. Weeds such as nightshade, redroot pigweed and waterhemp are difficult to control in dry beans. In a statement, Goehring said “it is imperative to control these weeds and minimize potential for resistance development.” The SLN labeling allows the herbicide to be used in an additional 26 counties in North Dakota. The registration is effective immediately and expires December 31, 2023.
