In the words of Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin, the trade war between the U.S. and China has been put “on hold.” Neither country will impose tariffs while they finalize a deal to reduce China’s huge trade surplus with the United States. Few other details are available, but Mnuchin said U.S. agriculture can expect to see an increase in exports to China of 35-to-40 percent.
