The 2018 Bio-Industry Summit took place in Fargo, North Dakota on Tuesday. Taking center stage was biofuels, specifically corn ethanol. NDSU bioenergy economist David Ripplinger says the hot topic of the day was policy influencing the industry. “The RFS and RINs should be important to North Dakota agriculture because they do impact corn demand and corn use,” says Ripplinger. ” National Corn Growers Association President Kevin Skunes welcomed attendees and explained why ethanol is a number one priority for his organization. “We’ve been told that farmers don’t care about RINs, but I think that’s not true. Some farmers don’t know what a RIN is, but they are apart of farmers’ markets. That means they care about the issue.”
