Corn planting is finally underway for farmers near Belgrade, Minnesota. John Mages started planting corn Saturday and is about halfway finished. “It looks like by the end of the week, unless we get a lot of rain, we could get back into the field a day or two and we should be planting again by then.”
Mages says they could use about an inch and a half of rain to help get the frost out of the ground. “We’re trying to get the beans in by next week, hopefully. The earlier we can get them in, the better. I think if we can keep soil temperatures up, the crop will germinate quickly and get out of the ground.”
