The Andersons suffered a net loss of $1.7 million in the first quarter. A year ago, the Ohio-based agriculture company had profits of nearly $2 million. The Andersons report better year-over-year results for its grain and ethanol businesses. Income from the plant nutrient and rail business segments was down.
