New high-speed planters will be hitting the field this spring. True North Equipment co-owner John Onken says these planters have spacing and seed placement accuracy levels of 99 percent. The equipment also operates at higher speeds, allowing the farmer to plant more acres each day. What’s next? “We need tractors that can handle that kind of load at higher speeds. Deere is spending a lot of money right now in research and development of a new tractor series.” Onken says this area has a very adaptive customer base that seeks technology. “It’s the one area ahead of the curve. This is the first area to adopt AutoTrac and to really take on wireless data transfer. I’d call us trendsetters.”
