Cold weather continues to hamper any ideas of field work in the Northern Plains. American Crystal Sugar Company General Agronomist Tyler Grove says the cold temperatures are good for storing sugarbeets, but beet growers would like to get started in the field. “This is the two-month transition where we go from beet storage to production. We’re excited to get going.” Grove says beet growers are finishing up getting their planters ready. “I think farmers are in good shape. The next question is when can we use those planters?”
