After receiving warnings from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard, eight ships were turned away from the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday. The flow of ships dropped further yesterday. Meanwhile, a large number of ships stuck in the region have started to use a southern route close to the shores of Oman to avoid any issues with Iran. France and the United Kingdom have announced plans to send a naval force to the Gulf to clear mines. However, the Iranian foreign ministry said this was ‘unjustified interference’ in their affairs.
