The American Farm Bureau Federation Convention included a rare joint appearance by the House and Senate Agriculture Committee leadership. Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar is part of the so-called ‘four corners.’ Klobuchar said she is not giving up on farm labor reform. “We cannot equate border policy, which must be secure, with the economic needs of farmers and ranchers, so go out there and make that case.” Senate Agriculture Committee Chair John Boozman said the border is now closed and the complex issue of immigration reform needs attention. “H-2A is not working; perhaps we can get that done short-term,” said Boozman. “We need massive reform and the good news is on both sides of the aisle, I think we are getting that message because of all of your hard work.”
