China’s Fufeng Group is in the process of selecting a new U.S. site for a corn mill. The company abandoned a similar project in Grand Forks in 2023. The proposed Grand Forks site was within 12 miles of the Air Force base, prompting security questions. The North Dakota project also became a talking point in the discussion of foreign-owned farmland. According to Bloomberg, Fufeng is finalizing its decision on a different location. In January, there was speculation that Fugeng would acquire a closed ethanol plant in southern Illinois. However, there’s no confirmation that is the location for the new corn milling plant.
