According to Politico, the House Agriculture Committee could mark up it portion of the budget reconciliation package as soon as May 8. Each committee will be asked to make adjustments that will be included in the White House domestic agenda. The so-called ‘big, beautiful bill’ includes renewal of the 2017 tax cuts, border security, energy policy and more. To pay for it, House Republicans are seeking major cuts in the nutrition programs. Farm-state lawmakers are also looking for new spending with higher reference prices and crop insurance updates.
