As of June 1, nearly 67 million hundredweight of potatoes were held in storage. That’s up 19 percent from one year ago. The potatoes held in storage account for 15 percent of the 2023 production. According to the USDA report, 3.8 million hundredweight of potatoes were held in storage in North Dakota. That represents 14 percent of last year’s production. In Minnesota, 3.4 million hundredweight was in storage at the beginning of the month, representing 19 percent of the 2023 crop.
