In its supply/demand report, USDA dropped beet sugar production by more than 10,000 short tons, raw value due to slightly lower sugar recovery and a small increase in the beet pile shrink. High-tier tariff imports increased to 225,000 short tons from 156,000 short tons the previous month. Two weeks ago, The Commerce Department indicated Mexico would be able to supply U.S. sugar needs of 1.1 million metric tons during the remainder of the export period.
