Governor Tim Walz asked Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack for the USDA to support Minnesota’s disaster designation due to the recent storms. This is from the derecho event earlier this month, bringing tornadoes, high winds, heavy rains and hail. In a letter, Walz said Minnesota needs access to federal aid to recover as they endure the effects the losses will have in the upcoming years. The Minnesota Congressional delegation also wrote a letter to USDA supporting this request.
