Rock n’ Roll Agronomy owner Jason Hanson says product activation has been an issue with managing weeds at times this season, but uneven stands are the bigger challenge for weed management. “We’ll have a lot of weeds showing up later in the season. There’s still bare ground in wheat and barley. When there’s not a good crop canopy, it puts farmers at a disadvantage,” said Hanson. “We’ll also see what happens in the fall. If we stay dry, I anticipate a lot of stubble left. I’m encouraging farmers to leave the stubble as high as they can if they want to direct seed. Farmers should also pay attention to weed control in the fall for those previous prevent plant acres. There’s been a lot wider spectrum of weeds on that ground this year.”
