The Washington Post is reporting former Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue’s company got a sweetheart deal from ADM in the weeks leading up to his nomination. ADM sold a non-operational soybean processing facility in South Carolina for $250,000 when it had been valued for millions of dollars. ADM denies any allegations of impropriety. Perdue had restructured his assets into a trust where he had no ownership interests and disclosure was not required during the confirmation process. Senate Agriculture Committee Chair Debbie Stabenow disagrees and is seeking a federal investigation.
