Heading into winter, abnormally dry conditions are commonplace across the region. Golden Harvest Agronomist Adam Aarestad recommends conserving moisture for next year’s crop. “I love the idea of keeping the ground covered whether it is a cover crop or residue management. That will also help with water infiltration into the soil.” Seed placement also takes on more significance. “You may have to go a little deeper in the spring to find consistent moisture and that is very important.”
