The Republicans will maintain control of the Minnesota Senate and the DFL has the majority in the Minnesota House. “In the House, the Democrats had control by a decent margin,” said Bruce Kleven, ag lobbyist. “It appears six of the seats went away from Democrats to Republicans.” There are some new faces. In northwest Minnesota, farmer John Burkel will be representing District 1A in the House. “One of our problems in St. Paul is we have few farmers in our Legislature. I’ve known Burkel for a long time and it will be great to have another farmer.”
