USDA’s small grains summary reflects a dramatic change in conditions in South Dakota. The state’s spring wheat production is up more than 40 percent from last year. Harvested acres increased nearly 30 percent. Barley production is up nearly 60 percent and oat production increased 75 percent from last year in South Dakota. Spring wheat production declined ten percent in Minnesota and dropped five percent in North Dakota.
