The week before Christmas was a big one for agricultural policy. Syngenta Senior Lead for Federal Government Relations Mary Kay Thatcher says the House passing the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement is a big deal. “It appears the implementing legislation will start in the Senate on January 7, but the finality of it is up in the air,” says Thatcher. “The House approved it by overwhelming margins. The Senate will approve it and President Trump will sign it. We’re well on our way to USMCA.” Appropriations bills were also passed. Lawmakers are now on recess and will return to Washington D.C. the week of January 7.
