With wet fields, Carpio, North Dakota farmer Pat Murphy says it’s a delicate balance taking equipment out during canola harvest. “Water is in a lot of spots and you don’t see the water until you’re in it,” says Murphy. “Then, the fields are fairly soft. It’s easy to get stuck in the mud.” Murphy says figuring out next year will be tough and the ground will likely be very wet in spring. “We could have a fairly open winter with no snow. Either way, it’s still going to be wet in the spring. In this particular area, there will be a lot of potholes to go around one way or the other.”
