Depending on conditions, Minn-Dak Farmers Cooperative expects to begin the main harvest around October 1. The pre-pile has been underway since August 19. Vice President of Agriculture Mike Metzger says it has been a very reactive preharvest. “We had a schedule laid out that would make the Queen of England blush; it was just that perfect,” said Metzger. “One rain and everything changed and it has been a reactive game since.” Moving forward, Metzger hopes Mother Nature will cooperate. “What we would really like to see is to have the faucet shut off.”
