According to USDA, North Dakota farmers planted 5.9 million acres of soybeans and 3.7 million acres of corn this spring. The soybean acreage figure is down 14 percent from last year while corn acreage is up 17 percent. Spring wheat acreage totals 6.5 million, down one percent. In North Dakota, barley acreage is up 32 percent; canola acreage is up seven percent and non-oil sunflower acreage is 46 percent higher than in 2018.
