North Dakota farmers are wrapping up the 2019 planting season. Arthur farmer Greg Gebeke has all of his crops in the ground. “it was a struggle to get it all in with the cold, wet soils.” Gebeke says crop emergence has been challenging. “We had to replant about 20 acres of corn. Most of it was along large shelter belts with big snowbanks piled up.” At Northwood, farmer Rick Ostlie is pleased how this year’s crop is responding to the war weather. “A couple weeks ago we were worried about the cold ground and emergence. It was slow at first, but rain and some warm temps kicked it into high gear.” Ostlie has a very small amount of prevent plant acres. “We did leave a little bit that was too wet and we couldn’t get into.”
