North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum has issued an executive order granting an hours of service waiver for drivers transporting anhydrous ammonia and other fertilizers. The order comes as farmers in the state are facing spring planting delays due to late snowfall and extended cold weather. Cold, wet conditions in other parts of the Midwest are also increasing the demand for fertilizer. Waiving HOS requirements allows haulers to deliver more fertilizer in less time to meet farmers’ needs. The waiver will remain in effect through May 31.
