Trade negotiations between the United States and Japan begin today. U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer is meeting with Japan’s economic minister today and tomorrow. Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue wants a “very quick agreement” with Japan cutting tariffs on agricultural products. Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will be in the U.S. later this month and President Donald Trump is expected to be in Japan in early May.
