USDA is projecting South Dakota’s winter wheat crop production at 38 million bushels, 83 percent more than last year. The average yield is forecast at 52 bushels per acre, 12 more than one year ago. Harvested acres are expected to be up 40 percent to 730,000 acres. South Dakota’s spring wheat production is forecast to be 42 million bushels, 101 percent more than last year. Spring wheat yield is forecast to be up 10 bushels per acre to 41 bushels per acre. Harvested area is expected to be up 52 percent from last year at 1.02 million acres.
