Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue acknowledges the anxiety over the trade dispute between the U.S. and China. During a stop in Ohio, Perdue said farmers will be okay. “The president wanted me to ensure the farmers of America that they will not be allowed to be the causality in these trade disputes. He (Trump) will support them every step of the way.” Perdue couldn’t offer any details, but there may be ways to reduce the impact on agriculture. “You can’t necessarily proclaim ahead of time what the measures are. So, I’m being very cautious in telling what is being contemplated and how to respond.” Perdue also tried to calm the audience, saying it will take 60-to-90 days before the tariffs take effect.
